Missing my partner
23 May 2014
Visiting the park yesterday for a short walk after work, there were several species of waterfowl enjoying the afternoon as well. I was again reminded of the trips afield with Missy and Sophie, their predecessors Sarah, Sheba, and Solomon. Seeing the ducks and geese enjoying their afternoon was a very pleasant experience in spite of the separation loss.
The emo of losing a hunting partner (canine) is more durable than I recalled. Losing Missy was almost one year ago, and it is still too painful. When my Daddy died in January 2000, I knew the pain of that loss would travel with me for the duration of my life.
I am just not very good at losing loved ones. No, not at all.
It is fortunate there are dogs at SPCA Great Plains animal shelter in Merriam that continue to offer their unconditional love for we fortunate persons visiting. I am far from strong enough to consider another dog so soon. Someday, perhaps, but not today. Not tomorrow, either.
